A recent NFL deal created a fuss amongst the NFL community. Daniel Jones shocked the world by asking for a contract deal with a pay-off equivalent to that of the quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The internet had a lot of things to say about the situation. Reactions were coming in from all across the world, and one of the participants turned out to be none other than the son of Bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Patrick Schwarzenegger also gave his two cents on the amount of money that Daniel Jones asked from the New York Giants. While the public has mostly been surprised at Jones’ expectations, Schwarzenegger’s reaction does not quite match the majority. In fact, it was the opposite of that.

The son of Arnold Schwarzenegger does not find the deal crazy

Recently, through a Twitter post, Patrick Schwarzenegger revealed to the world what his thoughts were on the ongoing circumstances. He shared a Tweet by Dov Klieman, and wrote in the caption, “Patrick mahones deal ain’t that crazy… chiefs will end up getting a steal on that deal if all these decent qbs getting 40mil offers”. Therefore, it is clear what his thoughts are on Jones’ asking for that much money.

While the New York Giants offered Daniel Jones a contract between $35 million to $39 million per year, Jones has escalated that number to $45 million. Patrick Mahomes also signed a 10-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs for a whopping $450 million. According to Schwarzenegger, the deal might be a steal for the Chiefs if this becomes the going rate for prominent quarterbacks.

However, it still might be a stretch to say that the Mahomes deal is a steal for the Chiefs at $45 million per year. It seems like Patrick Schwarzenegger has a pretty strong take on the Patrick Mahomes deal. But is it fair to put Mahomes and Jones in the same category?

The perception of the Mahomes deal

While Mahomes’ ask has shocked the sports community, it was justified on the basis of the two Super Bowl titles. In general, the NFL fraternity was not happy that Jones was keeping himself in the same league as Mahomes, at least when it came to the payout. People on Patrick Schwarzenegger’s Twitter felt the same.

Dov Klieman, whose Tweet was shared by Schwarzenegger in the first place, replied saying, “Exactly. A major steal. Daniel Jones shouldn’t be making anywhere close to Mahomes, but here we are..”. Someone also agreed with Schwarzenegger’s opinion, but added a caveat to it saying, “This is true if the cap and the market are held constant, they are not.”
