Gymnastics is one of the most demanding disciplines out there. It is also a discipline that has some commonalities with the sport of bodybuilding. While bodybuilding mostly focuses on muscle mass and strength, gymnastics, in addition to these, requires balance, coordination, and extreme amounts of flexibility. Due to these added requirements, it would be interesting to see a bodybuilder trying out gymnastics.

Well, look no further, because Jesse James West recently attempted to do exactly this. The American bodybuilding influencer gained popularity by posting fitness routine videos on his self-titled YouTube channel. He now has almost 2.7 million subscribers to witness his beloved antics. Jesse James West decided to try out some of the hardest gymnastics workouts, and this was his reaction.

Bodybuilding influencer poses as a gymnast for a day

Jesse James West, in his endeavor to become a gymnast for a day, was joined by Lean Beef Patty. Lean Beef Patty, real name Patricia, is a famous TikTok star, social media influencer, and fitness instructor who has around 4.5 million followers on Instagram. Both these influencers were ready to take on the challenge under the watchful eyes of Coach Shane, a.k.a Shane Michael Wiskus, an Olympic-level gymnast who represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

The pair started out with some basic warm-up exercises, targeted at loosening their body and stretching it out. Then Coach Shane made them do some basic gymnastics, such as cartwheels. Shane also pitted West and Patricia against each other to see who would win. The exercises became more difficult progressively, and at one point, a wooden balancing beam became a part of this adventure. Both Jesse James West and Patricia were given the task of balancing and performing a cartwheel on the wooden beam.

While both of them were able to do it on floor mats flawlessly, the wooden beam was a whole another level. Jesse James West immediately realized just how challenging the task was, and exclaimed, “This is probably the scariest thing I’ve done in a while.” Then Coach Shane proceeded to execute a flawless cartwheel on the beam, which encouraged both the bodybuilders to try out the same. After several tries, Jesse James West was finally able to perform a cartwheel on the wooden beam.

The experience was a novel one, and both the bodybuilders had an air of accomplishment after completing the exercises. This is indicative of the fact that gymnastics is not as easy as it looks, and requires a lot of rigour. Have you ever tried any gymnastics exercises? How did you do?
