“Tough to Cry”: After a Brutal Rodeo Injury, JB Mauney’s Latest Ranch Update Earns Applause From Fans

The legendary bull rider JB Mauney’s career started on the field of Mooresville, North Carolina, and ever since then he never shied away from delivering great performances in his beloved arena. However, almost a month ago the amazing bull rider decided to take a leave and heal from his injury. The decision came a week after he endured a devastating injury at a rodeo in Lewiston, Idaho.

Mauney’s career-ending incident occurred when he was thrown from the bull Arctic Assassin on September 6. He landed on his head during a Xtreme Bulls event, which cost him a retirement. The rider was heavily injured and left with a broken neck. He had to undergo surgery, which included the removal of a disk and the addition of a rod, plates, and screws to stabilize his neck. Even though the surgery brought him to a sober state, the accident marked his career toward the end. He has not only bagged the title but he has also gathered loyal fans in his journey.

A bit of labor has never harmed anyone

JB Mauney is widely regarded as one of the greatest bull riders in the history of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) circuit. The recent ranch update has garnered praise from his fellow mates and fans. Mauney posted a video 5 days ago, where he could be seen working on a ranch in the Kubota country.

This is not the first time he has rebounded from injury. Early in 2021, he suffered from facial lacerations after being thrown from a bull at the National Finals Rodeo. Similarly, in 2023, he was knocked by a bull while competing at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which left him unconscious.

Throughout his career, he battled through injuries that included a dislocated shoulder, a lacerated kidney, two broken legs, and fractures to his jaws, back, feet, and shoulder blades. Nonetheless, he is getting huge support from all his fans and close ones, hoping him a quick recovery.

Fans showered Mauney with love

One of the fans said, “You can’t keep a good man down”. Another one tried over his retirement, “Get better soon champ. You are who I modeled my bull riding after. Gonna miss you.” Well, on the other hand, some fans wished him luck for the time in the sand, “Playing in the sandbox is the best therapy ever!”

Interestingly, one fan penned an encomium for Mauney and wrote, “Awe…. JBMAUNEY “to tough to cry” God is healing you up take care of your wellbeing… life is precious. God Bless you and your lovely family so happy to see you up & walking pls be careful.

For an astonishing 15 consecutive years, from 2006 to 2020 Mauney crowned achievements such as the PBR World Championship. He even became the first cowboy in the history of rodeo to earn $7 million, which stands as a testament to his sustained excellence in the sport.

JB Mauney’s capacity to get over these injuries over 17 years only pulls the gravity of his decision to retire. Even though he took hiatus from bull-riding, his fans are anticipating seeing him in various other activities. His name will remain a synonym for a great rodeo rider in the world of professional bull riding.
