The importance of drug testing is significant in all sports. The governing body takes these tests to avoid unfairness in sports. Many athletes find it tough to wake up and leave for the test. For example, Simone Biles nearly missed the test and could have faced a ban. Unsurprisingly, though, her family came to her rescue. 

Earlier, Biles posted screenshots of her family members calling her. To this, a fan posted a tweet regarding how Biles would face repercussions if she missed the test. Concerned about her drug test, Biles tweeted how she did not miss it and went ahead with the test. 

Simone Biles never missed the drug test

The interaction between Simone and the fan was hilarious. The fan pointed out how most athletes put the time as 6:00 A. M as they are at home. Setting the phone mode to DND can be risky, however. The fan stated the problems she would have faced if she neglected the test. “3 missed tests in 12 months = 2 year ban,” posted the fan. 

To this, Biles spoke about how her parents had her back. She replied, “my phone is always on DND when I sleep. But you can set certain contacts to go off if they call 2x in a row. Not sure why I didn’t hear as I’m the LIGHTEST sleeper. But I made it within the time frame haha! my parents live 3 mins from me so all good!”

Her parents live three minutes apart and she spoke of making the test on time, despite not answering the calls. Routine drug testing can be a pain for Biles, as she tweeted earlier how she was not a fan of this process.

According to the FIG (Federal International De Gymnastique), their policies suggest athletes take drug tests, at random times. With no retirement plans yet, Biles is a part of the association and needs to take the test. Earlier, she tweeted about being tired of regular drug testing and tweeted “Leave me alone bruh.” But rules are rules. 

Drug testing is part and parcel of every sport. Despite the occasional trouble, most gymnasts stick to the clean approach. Thus, it is necessary to have testing to regulate the athletes from having an unfair advantage.
