However, putting an end to all speculations, the Red Sox manager has confirmed that Story will play as a second baseman for the team, while Bogaerts will continue his position as a shortstop.
Talking to MLB Network, Alex Cora also said that Story’s number one goal is to win the World Series title. While he also confirmed that during that Story himself was willing to play second base for the Red Sox.
“Yeah, in his heart, he is a shortstop. But at the same time, I think his number one goal is to win a ring. And he let us know that he was willing to play second base for the Red Sox. He understood that we have a pretty good shortstop in Xander Bogaerts,” said Alex Cora.

Cora also revealed that Trevor Story will be wearing number 10, and he will play right next to Xander Bogaerts. “He’s wearing No. 10. And he is gonna play it right next to Xander,” the Red Sox manager said. “It should be fun to see those two playing up in the middle for 162 plus matches.”

With Trevor Story by their side, Boston Red Sox has a formidable squad for the upcoming season. Now it will be interesting to see how far they go in the regular season.
