Carlos Correa – almost a New York Yankee?

Several fans have taken to the internet to see Correa don the Pinstripes already. Wishful thinking, the power of attraction, manifesting their desires? Call it what you will, but the Yankees will be eager to see Correa taking his place in the infield at their stadium.

But, as is true in most sports, the naysayers came through as well. Some criticizing ownership, while some chose to go after the prospect development that the Yankees would be giving up if they signed a superstar like Correa.

Thankfully, the internet always provides. And opposing opinions were never in short supply.

Super agent Scott Boras was on multiple mentions with the superstar shortstop. Correa signing on with Boras could possibly either really encourage Yankees fans or put them into utter dismay.

Yankees fans seem to be ready to pull out all stops in their pursuit of the shortstop. Some even tossing their own estimations of the contract up for discussion.

Others still voiced their opinion that the signing of Carlos Correa can be made irrespective of finances. That Correa shouldn’t really have any bearing on prospect development or even re-signing the Yankees top performers from the season past.

The Internet does Internet things

The transfer of Correa to the Yankees is going to bring about a tidal wave of memes and references if and when completed. But even before the discussions begin, the internet had its own two cents to add. Some spoke about ownership and their potential reaction to the financials being discussed.

Others chose to take the opportunity to speak about their pre-game routine, should the front office not be in keeping with their asks of the Yankees.

Fans even made most of the pop culture craze going around. With the web-slinger’s recent release, Spiderman: No Way Home released in theaters, fans put together an interesting clip. Spoiler alert for those that haven’t seen the movie yet though.

And because LeBron’s decision was publicly so well received (yes, sarcasm), some fans even went as far as suggesting Correa could appear on the Joe Rogan podcast to make his announcement.

The nature of the transfer is such that it will likely capture the imaginations of players and fans across the league. But what’s also important is that when Correa does sign for a team and the transfer saga seems to be at a close, we can all sit back and enjoy watching Twitter explode.
