WATCH: Josh Donaldson Faces Gerrit Cole for the First Time as New York Yankees Teammate

The current free agency has been one of the craziest in MLB history. Earlier this week, the New York Yankees shocked everyone by acquiring Josh Donaldson from the Minnesota Twins in a five-player trade.

Notably, Donaldson and the Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole do not have a great history in the past. And it was a major concern for the Yankees fans that how the two will play in the same team. But seems like everything is good between Cole and Donaldson.

Earlier this week, Josh Donaldson and Gerrit Cole faced each other as teammates for the first time as the Yankees players.

The 2022 season of Major League Baseball is definitely going to be a different one. There will be a lot of changes in probably every team. But when it comes to MLB’s most successful team, the New York Yankees, fans are about to see a different and probably a better team.

Gerrit Cole will be playing along with his previous season’s rival Josh Donaldson. Notably, during the 2021 season, he heavily criticized Cole for his spin rate start in the league. And since then the two players haven’t liked each other even a bit.

But now, since they are in the same team, Donaldson and Cole do not have any option but to cooperate and accompany each other. Recently, Donaldson and Cole faced each other in a live bullpen ahead of the new season.

And after facing a few pitches from Cole, Donaldson finally hit a ball. As per Marly Rivera of ESPN, after the bullpens, Donaldson said, “At least I touched it.”

Earlier on Saturday, Donaldson also made his spring training debut for the Yankees against the Baltimore Orioles. He also hit his first home run as a Yankees player in the match. Now, when the new season is just a few days away, the chemistry between Donaldson and Cole is already looking great. And that is what the Yankees fans would expect from them.
