“Will Stop Bodybuilding at 38”: Will Big Ramy Keep the Commitment He Made to His Kids After Mr. Olympia 2022?

Big Ramy is undoubtedly one of the biggest bodybuilders the sport has ever seen. He has been wowing fans for years as one of the world’s top bodybuilders. The larger-than-life bodybuilder has won two consecutive Mr. Olympia titles and is on the list of favorites to win his third one this year. But a few months ago, he shocked his fans with a big statement. 

Earlier this year, Big Ramy appeared in an episode of the RWA Podcast where he made a surprising revelation.

Big Ramy shocked his fans

The interviewer asked Ramy about his after-career goals and plans. The defending Mr. Olympia champion said that he always plans everything, even his career. Big Ramy made a shocking statement that he will not compete in the event once he is thirty-eight. He said“I’ve decided since the beginning that I will stop bodybuilding at 38 years old,”

The Egyptian bodybuilder also informed that his children keep asking him about his retirement plans. However, Ramy has made it clear that there is no chance of giving up bodybuilding anytime soon. “My kids still ask me about it, I tell them ‘thirty-eight hasn’t come yet. When it comes, we’ll talk.’”, he added.

Although Mamdouh ‘Big Ramy’ Elssbiay acknowledged not having any big plans after his bodybuilding venture, he further added that there’s plenty of time to think about it. Ramy is focused on preparing for the 2022 Mr. Olympia event. He said, “I don’t know what I’ll do after thirty-eight. I’m thirty-seven, there’s one more year left.”

This month, Big Ramy will be getting on the grandest stage to defend his title. Putting his retirement thoughts aside, the 37-year-old has been doing intense preparation. He is going to receive tough competition from the other 12 contenders for the biggest reward. Brandon Curry, who has lost to Ramy in several competitions, intends to carry a larger package to take on the mass monster.
