Equestrian isn’t always about maintaining poise and posture. Sometimes it’s just about getting the job done. Winning the Jumping World Cup is judged based on how high horses can gallop,jump and how well jockeys display their prowess. Less than two weeks after getting her horse, Skylar Wireman (19) won her first world title at Fort Worth and promised a prosperous future ahead.

“It means a lot to me“, Wireman said after the win. The Lugano Diamonds Split Rock Jumping Tour had some incredible talent on display. However, Wireman and Tornado’s six-horse jump took the day. In a recent video clip, Wireman could be heard talking about how surreal the whole thing is and how this means the world to her.

Skylar Wireman shows an equestrian knack

An Instagram story by the official FEI account shows a broadly grinning Skylar unable to hold back her emotions. Being asked what the victory amounts to Wireman, she confessed, “I Honestly have no words“. But she did manage to say that her night in Texas meant a lot and didn’t forget how Tornado also performed beyond her dreams.

Wireman said that Tornado had only gotten better as the tournament progressed. She said winning at the big stage in front of such an experienced and raucous crowd feels incredible and we’re inclined to believe so! The winner produced some excellent judgment skills after an awry inside turn to help her take the lead. Wireman recently only transitioned from junior to the senior level on international stages. This makes her first World Cup win all the more talked about across the community.

The American only recently received permanent custody of Tornado. Getting acquainted so quickly and so well made her first World Cup so enthralling. Wireman said that Tornado also pushed her to stay focused after the slip. “Tornado was just flying,” Wireman said. “I just thought, ‘I better stay on!“, mentions Skylar.

FEI World Cup was a thrilling affair

Anderson Lima pulled out a belter in the first round of the short course with her 16-effort with six pairs. This put pressure on her followers. Lima’s performance was so good that many of the next equestrian riders incurred penalties along the course. Most of the pairs faulted at the B of the triple and the A of the double.

However, USA’s Jill Humphrey quickly mastered the short course and gained a fast pace to clock 34.69 seconds. Coming in after Humphrey, Wireman replicated her moves and gained an advantage with a clear round. It remains to be seen what more laurels she will bear fruit of.
