While Simone Biles is the undisputed gymnastics GOAT, Coco Gauff remains one of the most famous tennis stars. The two of the USA’s beloved sporting stars have something in common apart from just sporting excellence! And that is their friendship. Coco and Simone share a deep bond. The two may not have met physically, but that does not stop them from supporting each other.

2019 was a milestone year in Simone’s professional career. She not only secured her 25th World Championship Medal but earned herself a spot in that year’s People’s Choice Awards. However, unlike her competitive spirit, Simone that year was rooting for the tennis athlete Coco Gauff.

The same happened in 2019 when she was nominated for the Game Changer Award at People’s Choice. But that year, Simone was rooting for tennis star Coco. As the list for that year’s nomination was released, Simone made it clear that “if @CocoGauff doesn’t win this, we riot.”

Coco replied to Simone’s tweet, saying, “Sis, I was saying the same thing about you.”

Acknowledging their endeavors, one fan, in a sweet gesture, wrote back in 2019, “Coco Gauff at the People’s Choice Awards last night. Was nominated for Game Changer. Simone Biles won but still remember when both of them were rooting for each other.”

The Twitter user also shared the screenshot of the post, where two sporting legends were spotted supporting each other.

Though Coco could not win the award, the two friends were happy with the results because Simone won. The two may not have been spotted together, but they share a special bond. In difficult times, they come to each other’s support.

Coco supported Simone Biles after the latter withdrew from the Tokyo Olympics 

The expectations were high when Simone was participating in the Tokyo Olympics. Thus, when she announced she would withdraw from the finals, fans were indeed disappointed. Though many supported her choice, few questioned it. The 25-year-old was henceforth subjected to public scrutiny and backlash.

During this challenging time, her old friend Coco supported Simone. She reiterated the importance of mental health and revealed that she could place herself in her shoes. The tennis star also spoke about her mental struggle. She added that while someone chose to talk about it, others refused. Coco appreciated Simone for showing courage.
