Ovechkin fans long-awaited his historic goal. More specifically, the hockey player had his 800th goal on 13 December against Chicago Blackhawks in a 7–3 win. It got him a place amongst luminaries, Wayne Gretzky and Gordie Howe, as the third player in NHL history to reach the 800-goal milestone.

Alexander Ovechkin surpassed legend Gordie Howe’s 801 goals record by scoring 802 goals in an exciting match against Winning Jets on Friday. The NHL player wasted no time thanking his family when he was asked about his scoring history. He told WSH HOCKEY NOW, “Very emotional.” Further, he added, “It’s special. They give me full support, and this is pretty big. It’s a historic moment. It’s nice to be in this category of players, it’s pretty cool.”
