On the final day at New Balance’s world headquarters in Brighton, the stage was set to witness the electrifying display of Noah Lyles. The speedster had already shrugged off the chances of showing any weakness to his opponents. Moreover, in the Olympic year, Noah Lyles already made clear his intention of occupying his untouched glories from the past. A 60-meter indoor record would have been fitting in that scenario. Well, that happened eventually.

But with that, the 60-meter hurdles witnessed the royalty of Grant Holloway once again. On the other hand, Olympian Gabby Thomas inflicted her fairytale once again. So tickling the track and field-loving bone, here are the best takes from last Sunday evening.

1. The day was full of record-breaking performances. But from those, Noah Lyles’s sprinting in the 60-meter event demanded a special note. Not just Noah’s record-breaking habit, but the list of opponents made the performance even more eclectic. When Noah Lyles was taking his stride in the final, his opponents were Ronnie Baker, the 2018 World Indoor medalist, and Fred Kerley, the arch-rival of the world champion. But when the 26-year-old sprinter was flying above the final ribbon, he could only see Maurice Green’s meet event. Eventually, Noah broke his 60-meter jinx.

2. The second-best performance came from Gabby Thomas. The two-time Olympic medalist had to ignore her ailing health to counter the opposition from an LSU athlete, Favor Ofili. Lynna Irby-Jackson was also there to show her ability to flout Gabby’s chance. But the hometown athlete set a record of 35.75 in the 300-meter event to dissipate all the arguments.

3. Olympian Grant Holloway is a regular champion in the 60-meter hurdles. But this time, Daniel Roberts’s standout form made him a fitting opponent. Eventually, to defeat the fitting opponent, Holloway made a world-leading 7.35 to earn yet another 60-meter indoor hurdles contest.

4. British long-course sprinter Jake Wightman posted his personal best of 3:34.06 in the 1500m final event. However, the 29-year-old athlete had to be satisfied with the runner-up position. But it was his comeback occasion after 2022.

Even the Bahamas’s world indoor champion, Devynne Charlton, couldn’t fit to be a suitable opponent in the event.
