This athlete was once a prominent part of the American track and field division and is now a well-known American football cornerback. The player is none other than Baltimore Ravens prodigy Marlon Humphrey. However, many are oblivious to the Humphrey’s association with athletics. Hence, during a podcast, this American NFL star shared some insights about how he was chosen over Noah Lyles.

When Marlon Humphrey was chosen over Noah Lyles

On his podcast “Punch Line with Marlon Humphrey”, the NFL cornerback revealed that he was participating in the 2013 Donetsk World Youth Championships. He stated that he got to the rounds and then got to the finals and placed second to win the silver.

He further stated there was a relay meet at the end of that day, and the officials came to him and said, “We need you; we really don’t want Noah to run. Humphrey further laughed at being chosen to run instead of Noah Lyles.

He also revealed that he was informed that the team had a better chance of winning if he ran the race.

 

Following this, the interviewer humorously asked Humphrey, “Where’d Your Speed Go?” as he is not running anymore and is a professional NFL athlete now. This podcast also caught the attention of Noah Lyles, and he responded to this conversation on his Instagram story and wrote, “Yah I remember that World youth team. I was 16 I think and didn’t make it out the simi finals of the 200.” 

The caption was also accompanied by laughing emojis. Well, the story might be funny, but it also shows the dedication and hard work that Noah Lyles put in to make it to the pinnacle of his career.

26-year-old Lyles is now a double world champion after he claimed both 100-meter and 200-meter titles during the world championships in Budapest.

He clocked the fastest time this year during his 100-meter heat and crossed the finish line in 9.83 seconds. Lyles secured the world championship title in the 200 meters, clocking an astounding time of 19.52 seconds.

Following this, he helped Team USA become world champions in the 4×100-meter relay during the same events. Then, on 31st September, he once again sprinted toward the finish line and bagged another 200m victory on the tracks of Zurich.
