Following her momentous victory in the 100m race at the 2019 Louisiana State Championships, Sha’Carri Richardson became a household name in the track and field universe. However, since then, her career has seen a bumpy ride in the wake of some controversies. But, this year, the LSU star made rather an exceptional comeback and is now all set to clinch accolades in the 2023 season. 

From the Miramar Invitational to the Diamond League, Richardson has marveled in every arena in which she made a run for the home line. However, last month, at the Botswana Golden Grand Prix, the champion had to settle for second place in the women’s 200m after losing to compatriot Kayla White. But, how does it fold out for the sprinter in the 100m at the Grand Prix? 

Sha’Carri Richardson ran 200m at Botswana Grand Prix

By standing atop the podium of the Miramar Invitational with a timeframe of 10.57s in 100m, Richardson garnered a hoard full of cheers for her incredible feat. With this, the LSU star’s time frame became the third fastest all-conditions time in world history. The next big win for Richardson came on May 5th, when she clinched another accomplishment, as she timed 10.76 seconds at the 100m race at the Diamond League season opener in Doha, Qatar. 

However, on 29th April, the American sprinter lost her first overseas race of the season to her fellow countrywoman Kayla White in the women’s 200m race. White emerged as the winner of the race with a time of 22.39 seconds, while Richardson completed in 22.54 seconds. Coming to the 100m category, the LSU athlete hinted at the reason for her failure and asserted, “…and I’m not letting anything or anybody take that anymore…even after being kicked out of the 100m”.
