The Pro Volleyball Federation is making ripples across the community. While the newly announced league is already picking up promising volleyball players from across the country, it recently made a breakthrough in terms of going big. Since its announcement, investors like NBA star Kevin Durant and alpine skiing legend Lindsey Vonn have come together to help PVF begin its promising journey with the least amount of trouble.

Now, the Real Pro Volleyball League receives yet another boost on its way to achieving its goals. According to a social media post, the new women’s volleyball league has bagged its first media deal. While Durant’s Boardroom Sports Holdings already has its fingers in the pie, the latest collaboration will definitely be the cherry the nascent league needs on top.

Kevin Durant joins Lindsey Vonn for far-sighted investment

According to the post on X, the PVF finalized its first media deal with CBS Sports. The media rights package entails airing at least 10 matches in 2024. CBS Sports will also have rights to the semifinals and the final match of the PVF championship tournament. With this, League One Volleyball (LOVB) brought in $35 million in its second round of fundraising, which is more than doubling the money invested in the startup league.

The league’s prospects have been highlighted by the fact that there are about 38 million former volleyball players in the country and Kevin Durant is all set to join the forces.

PVF’s One League Volleyball has been gaining momentum since its announcement, and so far, legends and icons from all walks of life have backed the league. Along with Kevin Durant and Lindsey Vonn, actress and comedian Chelsea Handler, tennis sensation Billie Jean King, and basketball star Candace Parker have invested heavily in the LOVB.

To mark the newly-forged deal between PVF and CBS Sports, a co-founder of the former said, “This is another groundbreaking day in the history of the Pro Volleyball Federation“. Dave Whinham, the co-founder, also said that the relationship seemed viable because CBS also believes in spreading women’s volleyball in North America and that LOVB can’t wait to explore the new dynamic.

Women’s volleyball going big

Women’s volleyball’s popularity in the USA is beyond any doubt with recent matches bringing in record numbers of fans to stadiums across the country. Fans of collegiate teams like the Nebraska Huskers are some of the most loyal in the country and have highlighted their dedication on multiple occasions. The NCAA match between the Nebraska Huskers and the Texas Longhorns also saw a number of viewers like never before.

With that, Durant’s investment seems to be a pretty calculated one, as PVF continues to work with the possible large audience for the LOVB. It waits to be seen if more celebrities get on board with the upcoming professional league in the coming weeks.
