After dominating the snow for nearly two decades, Shaun White is ready to retire from the sport. Shaun White gives an update on Winter Olympics

The three-time Olympic gold medalist is currently fighting for another medal in China. Notably, he turned pro at just 13 and has enjoyed a decorated career ever since. Significantly, he became the first person to win gold medals in both the Summer and Winter X Games. Despite that, his qualification to Beijing is currently in doubt. Poor performances in the first round meant the third and final qualification round is now vital. Ahead of his do-or-die appearance, White gives fans an update regarding the qualification.

“It’s been a crazy run to the Olympics. First event I took fourth which was really great and I got some points there. Moving into this season, the first competition did not go in my way. Had some mistakes in the final, but that’s okay I still got some points and moved up the ranks,” said White.

However, White is still looking to get better in the next two rounds of the competition so that he represents Team USA in Beijing.

“I did the second Olympic qualifier this season which was the Dew Tour event. That one went pretty well.”

“It all boils down to this, Mammoth mountain. I am currently ranked 13th in the world but out of the Americans, I’m ranked third and they take four men to the Olympics,” added White.
