The competition in Switzerland would be the pathway to the bed of roses. Referring to the same, White posted a story on Instagram, resonating with a penguin stuck in a do or die moment.
Shaun White is a legend
Safe to say, if White does not qualify for the Winter Olympics in Beijing, it would be an unexpected end to a wonderful era. Talking about his qualification, White recently posted a video of a penguin trying to jump over a sheet of ice that split from its mainland. With the rest of the penguins already making it through, the last one made it in the dying moments. Resonating with that penguin, White wrote, “Me deciding to go to Switzerland for the last contest.”
Indeed, a little symbolic representation of White’s route to the Olympics this year. Competing at this level at 35 is difficult, as most extreme sports athletes peak at a very young age, showcasing their talents in their respective sport. Hence, White looks to become a role model for most with his commitment and determination, even at this age.

The talented snowboarder talked about retiring from the sport after two decades filled with success. Loving what he did for a long time, White would hope to compete in his last Olympic Games and bow out in style.
“It’s hard to talk about because my whole life I’ve kind of been looked at as somewhat superhuman because I do these things [in the halfpipe]. … I’ve prided myself on being that individual, and, man, realizing and admitting to myself and everyone else, I’m human, it’s taken a toll,” said White.
With a fifth history appearance and a fourth gold medal at stake, one would certainly hope White makes it to Beijing. However, only time will tell what’s in store for Shaun White.
