Michael Phelps has been considered a beast in the history of Olympic swimming. In his time in the pool, the 23-time Olympic gold medalist has accomplished everything. He has created dazzling world records with his remarkable victories. However, the legendary figure retired in 2016, making his fans downhearted.

However, from time to time, he has surprised his admirers with his incredible workouts. This time he has garnished his workout regime with lots of crushed ice to bring the best version of himself. Undoubtedly, being the greatest swimmer of all time needs a balanced amount of dedication and workout plans. While even after seven years of retirement, he has shown dedication to making his body fit.

Michael Phelps’ ice bath routine

Recently, a Twitter handle named PGA Tour shared a video of Michael with professional golfer Justin Thomas. They discussed the fastest ways to recover after a competition. The Baltimore bullet can be seen filling the huge tubs with ice. The video was captioned, “Compete like a pro, Recover like a pro @JustinThomas34 and @MichaelPhelps discuss recovery routines with a post-round ice bath.”

In the video, Phelps described how icy baths are the easiest way to recover, benefiting the muscles. He said, “Now that I’m retired, I still do this all the time. I think this is one of the best and easiest ways to recover, and it’s so good for your muscles.” Michael added, “Came out a little faster than I thought. (pouring the ice) I guess I’ll fill the rest in mine.”

As they both jumped into the tub and started shivering, the Olympic gold medalist added, “For me, I have to workout every single day. So if I’m lifting three days a week, or cardio four days a week, that’s me being my best self.”

Further, he said, “If it’s stretching some version to help me become the best version of me every day because if my glass if half full, I’m not able to be the best person that I can be.” Their fans gushed over the ice bath routine in the comment section, while some shared hilarious memes about them.

Phelps, the definition of perfection

Phelps has won 28 Olympic medals over the course of his career. It is not surprising that he had devoted himself to swimming with a desire for success. How he has crafted his way to becoming a legendary athlete is astounding. However, many things changed after he took retirement from swimming.

There was a time when he used to consume 10,000 calories a day with heavy training, but now he has a balanced workout routine with lots of vegetables in his diet. In addition, his Instagram videos usually show him playing golf or hitting the gym.
