World-class athletes undergo rigorous training and maintain busy schedules. But as much as their regime requires hard work, it has its perks, too. Successful athletes amass sufficient wealth during their careers. It provides the means to live a luxurious post-retirement life. And being the most decorated Olympian certainly makes Michael Phelps eligible for an opulent lifestyle.

Phelps announced his final retirement from competitive swimming shortly after bagging five gold and a silver at the Rio Olympics in 2016. However, prior to competing at the 2016 Games, the five-time Olympian purchased a 6,000-square-foot property in Paradise Valley, Arizona.

Does Michael Phelps have a personal swimming pool?

The property was a luxurious estate built in the Santa Barbara style. It was complete with five, six and a half baths, four fire pits, and a swimming pool.

However, his stay in this mansion that he brought at an estimated cost of over $2.5 million was brief. The 28-time Olympic medalist sold this property sometime in 2018 after the birth of his second son.

Although the GOAT initially listed the property at $4.125 million, the beautiful estate overlooking the Camelback mountain was reportedly sold to an investment company in Nevada for $3.5 million.

Following this, Michael Phelps upgraded to a larger mansion comprising six bedrooms and eight baths across a two-acre area. The mansion is in Phoenix, Paradise Valley, and not very far from where they previously lived.

The estate includes a firepit for barbecue, a hot tub, a sauna, and a wet bar. However, the main feature of the property is the swimming pool. It is complete with opulent overlays and tranquil blue water.

Contrary to popular belief, long and short courses are not simply an area for swimming. They have different lengths altogether.

Olympic-sized pool vs. Phelps’ pool

An Olympic sized-pool is different from a short course in that the former is called a long course and is generally 50-meters in length. However, a short course is only 25-meters in length and therefore just half the size of a long course pool.

And from the looks of it, the dimensions of his personal pool are not the same as that of an Olympic-sized pool. It is more along the lines of a short course swimming pool. Therefore, Phelps’ personal swimming pool is about half the length of the pool that the Olympian is used to.
However, the most decorated swimmer in the Olympics can still do a few reps at his pool over the weekends, or even when he feels like pulling a few off his list of daily routines.
