Swimming Star Katie Ledecky Pens a Heartfelt Note After Breaking Michael Phelps’ Incredible Record at 2022 Golden Goggles

Recently, Katie Ledecky won her eighth USA Swimming Athlete of the year award. With this, she has broken her tied record with the swimming legend Michael Phelps.

In 2021, Ledecky won her seventh award after an impressive performance at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. It led to her tieing with the ‘Baltimore Bullet’, Michael Phelps, for the record for the maximum number of Athlete of the Year Awards at the Golden Goggles.

Katie Ledecky pens down her emotions

Following the Golden Goggles 2022 award ceremony, Ledecky shared a post on her Instagram account, expressing her feelings about the recent honor she received. For the constant support she got, she expressed her gratitude to her friends, family, coaches, and teammates. Furthermore, for celebrating the World Championship team, Ledecky thanked the Golden Goggles officials.

USA Swimming Female Athlete of the Year

The USA Swimming honored Katie Ledecky at its Golden Goggles event. The event took place on 21st November 2022 at the Marriott Marquis in New York. And Katie received this top honor for women for the eighth time. Consequently, for her spectacular performance during the year, Ledecky received the honor of USA Swimming’s Female Athlete of the Year.

She had won four gold medals at the FINA World Championships in Budapest. She won medals in the 400 freestyle, 1500 free, 800 free relays, and 800 free races.

Ledecky won the award after surpassing five other nominees. These nominees included Alex Walsh, Torri Huske, Katie Grimes, Regan Smith, and Lilly King. Additionally, Ledecky has won the Female Athlete of the Year award for six consecutive years from 2013 to 2018. Breaking Michael Phelps‘ record, Ledecky continues to make history in swimming.
