Michael Phelps Shares a Special Message to Carlos Alcaraz After He Denied Novak Djokovic of His Wimbledon Title

The 2023 Wimbledon was a marvelous event with some stellar tennis stars. Spectators from across the globe were gathered to witness the live magic on the outdoor grass. It was the third Grand Slam Tournament of the year. The thrilling competition commenced on 3rd July and concluded with an exciting final on Sunday, 16th July with the men’s final matches.

The 20-year-old Spanish Tennis star, Carlos Alcaraz Garfia was crowned the Wimbledon Championship 2023. The young performer fulfilled his dream of defeating his childhood idol, Novak Djokovic with an excellent score. With every minute passing, the match became more exciting and nail-biting for the spectators. Alcaraz’s incredible victory has been commended by many great stars across the world including the swimming champion, Michael Phelps. Carlos Alcaraz made a great victory over the World rank 2, Djokovic with a great score of 1-6, 7-6(6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. The World No. 1 saved his maiden title at the championships and second title in overall championships. A post was shared by Wimbledon’s Instagram handle which was later reposted by Michael Phelps on his Instagram story. The swimming legend applauded the young tennis star by saying, “What a match! Congrats to @carlitosalcarazz.”

Carlos Alcaraz didn’t have the best of starts but he has now established his name by winning multiple titles at the age of 20. This remarkable victory was very touching to young Carlos, he expressed his joy by saying, “Making history that I did today, it’s the happiest moment of my life…. Beating Novak, and winning the Wimbledon championship, is something that I dreamed about since I started playing tennis.” Alcaraz’s victory was applauded by his opponent as well. Djokovic, the runner-up of Wimbledon 2023 gave his well wishes to Alcaraz for his amazing gameplay.

Djokovic appreciates Alcaraz’s game on grass

Emotional Djokovic mentioned Alcaraz’s in his post-match speech. He expressed his feelings for Alcaraz’s astounding performance by saying, ” I thought I had trouble with you only on clay and hard court but not on grass.” Djokovic also addressed Alcaraz’s big serves and big plays which led to his victory in Wimbledon. Djokovic applauded the Spanish star saying, “You deserve it. Congratulations!”. Alcaraz also expressed his joy in defeating one of the greatest players in Tennis, he said Djokovic has inspired him for playing tennis and he watched Djokovic since his childhood.

The Wimbledon 2023 was nothing short of a magical tour for the spectators and the players themselves. The start, the ending, the player, the matches, everything was tempting at first which eventually became contended.
