US Star Fred Kerley’s Appearance Confirmed at One of the Mega Event of the Season

Fred Kerley has been making rounds in the news for all the right reasons. The latest reason is his participation in the Kip Keino Classic Continental tour. Female sprinters Sha’Carri Richardson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce are also among the names that have been listed for the prestigious tournament. The track stars not only dominated 2021 with their performances but also with the intense rivalry they share. Their feuds both on and off-field are well known to everyone.

Fred Kerley to race at the Kip Keino Classic Continental

The Kip Keino Classic is an annual Track and Field event held in Nairobi, Kenya. Named after two-time Olympic gold medalist, Kipchoge Keino, the event will have its third anniversary this year.

In a tweet, the official handle for the event confirmed that the American sprinter will take part in the upcoming event. Jackson Tuwei, Athletics Kenya President made the announcement.

Kerley will match up against Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala. Omanyala, 26, is the current African record holder in the men’s 100m category. He is also the 8th fastest man of all time with a time of 9.77 seconds. This will not be Fred’s first appearance at the event, as he is the defending champion in the 200m category. Fred won the race in 2018 with a time of 19.76seconds.

Fred is going into the event with high morale. The American sprinter has made headlines throughout the year with his impressive performances. Intending to equal Herb McKenley’s record, Kerley will be looking to defend his crown to boost his morale.
