However, the young track prodigy faced a defeat on September 16. In Richardson’s homeland, the Jamaican sprint queen Shericka Jackson stood atop the podium, finishing the Diamond League 100-meter finals in 10.70 seconds.

With this, she earned her Gold and left Sha’Carri Richardson to settle for fourth place by clocking in at 10.80 seconds. Following this achievement in the last 100m battle of the season for the year, Jackson has again managed to leave the internet in a frenzy.

Shericka Jackson received ‘The RJRGleaner Honour Award’. The athlete received it for her 200-meter final performance in the 2022 World Athletics Championship, where she clocked in at 21.45 seconds.

After receiving this honor, Shericka Jackson shared her thoughts on social media. The athlete posted a few pictures on Instagram with the caption, “Thank you to the RJRGleaner Communications Group for acknowledging my hard work by presenting me with the RJRGleaner Honour Awards 2022 in the category of Sports for my World Championship performance(2022)21.45 (Championship Record). It’s was a pleasure”. Amid this post, many Jackson enthusiasts showed their support for the athlete.

Intriguingly, this award comes after the athlete was able to defend her 2022 200-meter title with a new record. In the season 2023, the undefeated Shericka Jackson also raised the bar by getting one step closer to breaking Flo Jo’s record.

Shericka Jackson was 0.07 seconds close to breaking Flo-Jo’s record

29-year-old Shericka Jackson ran 21.41 seconds (200m) to win in Budapest, Hungary, at the World Championships. She narrowly missed Flo-Jo’s 21.34 record set in 1988. Out of the top five fastest 200m sprints of all time, the Jamaican athlete has three to her name.

Interestingly, all through her 2023 season, Jackson kept on aiming to break Flo-Jos’ record. In an interview, while talking about her efforts to surpass Flo-Jo, the 200-meter sprinter told the media, “I feel like I’m getting closer to that record.”
