As the nascent Real Pro Volleyball takes flight, the city of Omaha once again proved exactly why the state continues to dominate the national volleyball circuits.

The inaugural match of the Pro Volleyball League kicked off yesterday as the Omaha Supernovas took on the Atlanta Vibes. And it wasn’t just a thrilling match that made the headlines on the monumental day.

The buzz in the air for the new women’s professional volleyball league can be felt. The excitement is so strong that even the official Huskers Volleyball social media account had to pay heed to the widespread support for the newly announced league. In their latest post on X, the Huskers account shared the new milestone achieved by Nebraska’s volleyball fans during yesterday’s game. The post comes with the caption “The volleyball capital of the world“, and is substantiated with a detail that is sure to establish Nebraska’s elite position as a pit that nurtures the sport for the better.

The Huskers’ post highlights the information shared by Front Office Sports’ account, which mentions that the opening match of the PVF’s league was attended by 11,624 fans, making it the biggest gathering in “U.S pro volleyball history“.

Justifiably, the Huskers are elated that volleyball is revered as a major sport across the state where fans are so crazy for the game that they flock to every possible game to set new standards for the rest of the nation to follow. During last year’s NCAA tournament, Huskers fans attended the Nebraska vs Pittsburgh match in throngs, recording the largest attendance for a collegiate match. Now, with the latest statistics, the state once again reaffirmed its place as having the country’s most volleyball-obsessed fans.
