When the St. Louis Blues selected Walman in the 82nd round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, he began his career in the National Hockey League. His professional career, however, didn’t get rolling until the 2020–2021 season, when he appeared in 24 games and was outstanding as a defender in every one of them.

Walman played three years of college hockey at Providence College, where he racked up 69 points (21-48-69) and increased his chances of being picked by an NHL club.
