The cheerleading department literally brings cheer to the world. Ceci Padilla’s life has been a testament to her unyielding spirit and determination, despite being diagnosed with severe spina bifida before she even entered this world. Her life has been a tough ride but she is still savoring every moment of it.

 Cheerleading has been her initial passion, and even after all those tough times, she declined to give up on her dreams. She sets a beautiful example for those who give up easily amidst challenges in life. 

A cheerleading passion that keeps burning 

The Rock Island cheerleader got diagnosed with a very deadly illness that is still affecting her. Ceci is suffering from spina bifida. She has been through many surgeries, but she never lost the will of cheerleading. Spina Bifida is a condition where the formation of a spine and spinal cord is improper. This leads to various complexities. She still stands strong with her team and performs with all she has got. 

Unfortunately, she has been dealing with the surgeries from the early age of five and it has been a tough ride for her ever since.  The smile on her face after going through all this is commendable and is a testament to her bravery.

Ceci and a difficult life

 The hospital stay brought forth an unparalleled level of pain for Ceci. She described it as a ten on the pain scale—a level of intensity she had never experienced before. This agony followed her second bout with the flu and was exacerbated by a puncture in her abdominal wall due to a medical tube.

In pursuit of relief and appropriate medical care, Ceci and her mother embarked on a journey to a hospital located nearly 90 minutes away from their home. Ceci’s mother, Alexis Leihsing, has been her unwavering source of support during her struggling period. For Ceci, home signifies more than just a physical place. It’s a sanctuary of comfort and solace.

Ceci’s medical journey has been marked by an astonishing 55 surgeries, an extraordinary number for someone so young. This medical odyssey commenced at the tender age of five and continued into her youth. Among these surgeries, Ceci also prepared for a spinal fusion procedure.

Ceci’s remarkable resilience in the face of adversity, coupled with her mother’s immense support, serves as an inspiring example. It is about how love and determination can empower individuals to confront life’s most daunting challenges.
