Rescued Fur Baby Becomes the First Ever to Climb Mount Snowdon in a Wheelchair

From a past filled with abuse to becoming a record-breaking mountain climber, Hope, a remarkable dog has made the headlines. The four-legged pupper with various physical impairments has climbed up Mount Snowdon. This inspirational journey demonstrates power and resilience which is exceptional.

Hope sustained unimaginable cruelty in Spain resulting in her abandonment when she was only three months old. She was permanently paralyzed from the mid-spine to the back legs when thrown over a fence. As a result of this barbaric incident, she has been immobilized requiring a wheelchair to move.

Even in the face of dire circumstances, Hope refuses to give up. The positive turn of events in Hope’s life took place when she was rescued by Amanda’s Spanish Rescue Dogs, the rehoming charity. Embarking on a journey to join her loving family in Okehampton, she continued to shine leaving her past behind.

Throughout this transformation journey, Hope has been blessed with ultimate support from her foster family. A cross-country wheelchair was arranged for her to make it easier while traversing the Dartmoor terrain, where the family lives. Apart from her family, the charity backed Hope all throughout her journey.

The loving and caring atmosphere of her new home encouraged Hope to excel in overcoming all hurdles. As a token of appreciation, the family decided to raise money for the charity by climbing up the highest peak in England and Wales.

Hope’s historic climbing endeavor

Owing to the charity that saved her life, Hope gladly accepted the challenge to support the noble cause. Although this was no ordinary climb for a paralyzed dog, she was determined to reach the summit with the help of her specially designed wheelchair. Kerry Ruston, Hope’s loving owner said to Metro, “The terrain was incredibly tough going and along with it being incredibly steep, parts of this section were totally impassable by Hope”.

In order to make the journey easier for her, the family chose a gentle path to overcome at a steady pace. However, she refused to lose his focus on the climbing adventure. Kerry emphasizing the family’s commitment to her welfare, informed that the initial aim was to raise $620 for the charity. But to everyone’s astonishment, the resilient effort from Hope generated $3,194 surpassing all expectations.

Hope’s journey to reach the summit of Mount Snowdon is the outcome of all factors combined. The triumph of the human-canine bond, determination to overcome hurdles and the story of love contributed to making Hope the winner of life. Raising the fund has been the bonus in this inspiring journey.
