One can be as careful as they want but when they are on the road, a million things could go wrong. And even when you think you have most of these things under control, sooner than later everyone stumbles upon the realization that all it takes is one bad turn and the butterfly effect takes over. Case in point, what happened to Bruce Alan Davis.

Davis met with a devastating incident on what was supposed to be a celebration of his 67th birthday. While embarking on a cycling trip, he got involved in a fatal collision at around 12:45 p.m. between Sardis Road and Monroe Road on Matthews Township Parkway.

Even though first responders quickly attended to Davis on the spot, all efforts turned out to be futile. He was then immediately transported to the nearby hospital by the first responders but the man could not be revived. This marked a rather sad and inarguably, very violent end to what was an exceptional life. For his near and dear ones, David was a man full of life with a passion for cross-fitness.

John Carriker, Davis’ teammate reiterated his victory during one of the bike rides with WSOC-TV, “He took his cross-country bike ride last year. And how happy he was to dip the front wheel of his bicycle into the Atlantic ocean.”

Remembering Davis’ Skills and Sportsmanship

During his lifetime, Davis surpassed the prejudices associated with old age i.e., restricting people from enjoying physical activities and leading a sedentary life. However, Davis has left a deep mark on those whom he has left behind and they continue to celebrate his vibrant spirit.

Deanna O’Connor, a friend of Davis shared her views stating, “You would hear people talk about Bruce’s stride and how he just would lock down and keep that consistent stride, face forward up the hills.” Therefore, it is evident that Davis refused to surrender under dire circumstances and gladly adopted the threats life posed to him.

There has not been much information about the accident except the fact that Davis collided with a car while cycling. However, investigative authorities are proceeding with the care and scrutinizing the incident with great care to look for hidden answers.

The tragic loss of Bruce Alan Davis has left the cycling community in shock. It also underscores the lack of safety exposing cyclists to menacing incidents while sharing the road with other motorists and four-wheelers. Davis’ indomitable spirit will forever live in the hearts of his near and dear ones as they look forward to a sincere investigation.
