As autumn makes its presence felt at New Philadelphia Schools, we are once again embracing the beloved tradition of Phila-Dover Week. It has evolved into a time-honored event like no other, uniquely uniting our community.

From Spirit Week to the friendly contests like paper football and door decorating, and the uplifting sound of our choir singing the fight song in the hallways, this rivalry holds a special place in our hearts.

The upcoming sportsmanship breakfast will be a heartwarming occasion. The community comes together to honor their senior football players, cheerleaders, and band members from both New Philadelphia and Dover. It’s a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the talents and camaraderie of young students. Following this, there is an invitation to the community for a delightful spaghetti dinner on October 19th from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Not only will it satisfy the taste buds, but it also serves as a fundraiser for the senior class.

The excitement doesn’t end there. They have a community pep rally planned for 7 p.m. in the New Philadelphia High School gymnasium, where all of them can gather, cheer, and express our school spirit.

Of course, the week’s crowning moment is undoubtedly the big game on Friday at 7 p.m., where the teams will face off on the field. This is an invitation to all to join in celebrating this exceptional week.

Beyond the excitement of Phila-Dover Week, there’s much more that fills the hearts with pride across the district.

Apart from this, certain students have passed the English language proficiency assessment. This academic excellence led the district to earn grants for its new transportation and maintenance garage. The striking feature about this is that they will only operate it.

Lastly, there is a reminder left for everyone that New Philadelphia Schools will be on the Nov. 7 ballot with a renewal levy. Importantly, this levy will not increase taxes for the residents residing in the area. Its purpose is to support the day-to-day operations of the schools. Initially passed in 2014 and renewed in 2018 for five years, this levy plays a crucial role in maintaining the high standards of our educational system. It seems that Philadelphia-Dover Week will provide a lot for the community.

The community is thriving, students are showing reflections of excelling, and they have many things to look forward to. There is an effort to help the people of their own. As a society, they produce an excellent benchmark with their charity initiative. Helping their residents should always be the primary effort of society. It is hoped that the initiatives from the Philadelphia-Dover game produce excellent results. The community will definitely bloom in the years to come.
