After winning the inaugural sprint race, Max Verstappen started the British GP on the pole. And after a wheel-to-wheel battle with the reigning champion, Lewis Hamilton, the two title contenders collided at Copse on the opening lap. The Dutch went flying into the tire barriers while the Briton stayed on the track.
Hamilton’s left-front wheel tangled with the Verstappen’s rear-right, sending the Dutchman into the barriers and out of the race in an impact that measured 51G.
Meanwhile, after the incident, his engineer asked, “Max you okay?”

However, Verstappen, groaning in tremendous pain, wasn’t in a state to reply to his engineer.
Immediately after the crash, the Dutch was taken to a local hospital for check-ups.

Helmut Marko demands suspension for Hamilton after Max Verstappen crash
As quoted by Planet F1, the Red Bull advisor, Helmut Marko is understandably furious with Lewis Hamilton for the crash with Verstappen on the opening lap. Furthermore, the Austrian believes the Knight should get a one-match suspension.
Hamilton picked up a 10-second penalty after a collision with championship leader Max Verstappen in a crash that resulted in a red flag and sent the Dutch to the hospital. After the race, he was also awarded two penalty points on his permanent license.

“You can’t do that with the normal sporting code. I don’t know what the maximum penalty would be, but such dangerous and reckless behavior should be punished with a suspension or something,” said Helmut Marko in an interview with Sky Germany.

“If a competitor massively touches our rear wheel with his front wheel, then that’s no longer a racing accident in the fastest corner of the track–that is negligent-to-dangerous behavior.”
Despite failing to score a single point at British GP, Max Verstappen still leads the drivers’ championship by eight points.
