“We practised five days together before the US open in Zurich. I was outside the top 100 at this time and my game improved a lot, I got along very well with Severin and the team but when we’ll play on Sunday there will be no friendship.”

These are confident words from Fucsovics who is much lower ranked than Federer. However, he will draw a lot of confidence from the fight that Millman put up against Roger.

Fucsovics believes that he’s playing the best tennis of his career currently. It is hard to argue with that given his current run at the Australian Open.

In the first round, he shocked World No 13 Denis Shapovalov in a closely contested match. That’s where he announced himself.

By defeating the young sensation Jannik Sinner in straight sets in the second round, Fucsovics proved that he was here to stay and his victory was not a fluke. Yesterday, he beat Anerican Tommy Paul.
