The 24-year-old Russian player Daniil Medvedev has upped his game to a great extent in these past few years. He, recently, overtook Roger Federer’s World No. 4 position after winning the 2020 Rolex Paris Masters. But little do people know about the coach and the team that works behind the Russian 24×7.
Daniil received his breakthrough year in 2019 with six consecutive finals appearances and also by winning three Masters events. For his full-time coach Gilles Cervara, it was the Russian’s 2017 Wimbledon win against Stan Wawrinka that started it all.
Frenchman Cervara owns the Elite Tennis Centre in Cannes, and he has been Medvedev’s coach since late 2017. Admittedly, he is the pursuer behind the Russian’s relocation to France, where he would go on to train to become a professional.
