Former World No. 1 Margaret Court is the most dominant women’s tennis player. Her 24 Grand Slam titles are yet to be matched. Although, Serena Williams is just one shy away from equalling her splendid record. The former World No. 1 had a decorated career, having won 11 Majors at the Australian Open.
Besides her dominance in singles, Margaret won all four Grand Slam titles in the doubles and mixed doubles categories. Overall, she’s won 64 Majors across all events and categories. She was the first female player to win a Grand Slam title abroad. The Australian won the French Open and US Open championships.
Margaret Court Will Be Honored on Australia Day

Recently, it was announced, Margaret would receive the ‘Companion of the Order of Australia’ on Australia Day. The Australian is being recognized for her contribution as a tennis player and as a guide for upcoming talents. Back in 2007, she was made an ‘Officer of the Order of Australia’, for her contribution to tennis, as a teacher, and to the association.

In 1970, Margaret won all four Grand Slam titles. In 1962, 1965, 1969, and 1973, she won three Grand Slam titles in the calendar year. She began competing in 1959 and ended her career in 1979 in the majors.
