World No.1 Ashleigh Barty and World No.4 Aryna Sabalenka lead the semifinal lineup at Wimbledon Championships 2021. They are the top two seeds and they face the challenge of two very capable players. Barty will play against former World No.1 and 2018 Wimbledon champ, Angelique Kerber. Whereas Sabalenka will also face former World No.1 Karolina Pliskova. These matches will be played on the 8th of July at the famous Centre Court.
Ashleigh Barty vs Angelique Kerber
Kerber is on a 10 match win streak as she won the Bad Homburg Open prior to Wimbledon. For the first time in many years, Kerber has played so well at a Grand Slam and would want to make it through to her third Wimbledon final in the last five editions.

Ash Barty has looked good since her return from injury. Her Wimbledon journey hasn’t been perfect, but she has held her head above her peers. Major highlights have been her serve, backhand slice, and forehand. She leads the aces department and often troubles her opponent with her slices as well. And her forehand always stays inside the legal markings. Kerber will have to use her crouching backhand a lot during the semifinal. A blockbuster match in the making.

Prediction: Barty to win in three sets.
Aryna Sabalenka vs Karolina Pliskova
In the next semifinal, Pliskova takes on Sabalenka. Pliskova had been in a troubling form before Wimbledon. But now she made it through to her first semifinal at the Championships. She has improved her serve and her play at the net has improved. However, Pliskova is yet to face a top 40 player. And Sabalenka is the first seeded player she is facing.
After a run of disappointing results at Grand Slams, Sabalenka has finally reached the semifinals that reflect her rankings. Her sheer power and strong serve should prove to be vital against Pliskova. Both players play heavily on the baseline but Sabalenka’s return of serve has been brilliant. Despite Pliskova not dropping a set in the tournament, Sabalenka is a favorite.
Prediction: Sabalenka to win in straight sets.
