Former World No.1 Andy Murray recently gave an interview to pridelife.com. One hilarious question compelled Andy to choose whom he would snog, marry, and avoid between Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. It was a challenging and perplexing question for the 33-year-old Brit.
Oh, God! I’m not going to give you an avoid,” replied an anxious Murray.
He threw his head back and started laughing, probably wishing he was under pressure in a match rather than an interview. However, he gathered his wits and gave a diplomatic answer.

‘I’m not avoiding anyone’- Andy Murray
“Can I have an alternative to avoid?” pleaded the 3-time Grand Slam winner. “Or I’ll get crucified by whoever I pick.”
Murray answered in such a way as if he didn’t want to be a part of any future trouble or controversy. He knew that whoever he would pick as the answer for the ‘avoid’ question, the fans of that particular player would not accept it readily. He might face a backlash later. Hence, he acted smartly.

There is, however, also a possibility that he did not wish to trivialize or disrespect any member of the ‘Big Three’. All of them have achieved great heights. All of them have been inspirations to many people. Murray certainly didn’t want to insult anyone. After thinking a lot, he finally comes up with an answer. But, he took a step back and decided not to ‘avoid’ anyone.
“I would marry Roger and then I would have to snog the other two (Djokovic and Nadal). I know it’s a cop-out but I’m not avoiding anyone,” Murray told pridelife.
Scrutinizing the statement, one can easily conclude that he would have avoided either Nadal or Djokovic. But Murray opted to avoid the ‘avoid’ part of the question and answered it very strategically.
