The Met Gala is on the horizon, and celebrities from around the world are preparing to attend the renowned event in New York. It’s an event that is literally on everyone’s bucket list to attend one day, irrespective of the profession. Coco Gauff, the American rising tennis star, isn’t any different as she wants to attend the Met Gala in the upcoming future.

Fortunately, the Met Gala is a little special this year for the tennis fraternity. Together with Dua Lipa and Penelope Cruz, the Swiss maestro, Roger Federer, will co-chair the special event. After witnessing the tennis veteran take on a new role in the event, the 19-year-old Coco Gauff expresses interest in attending the famous event.

Coco Gauff wants to attend the Met Gala 

The American teenage sensation has arrived in Stuttgart, Germany, to participate in the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. Subsequently, during a press conference before the tournament, Gauff was asked whether there were any of the prestigious red-carpet events that she would like to attend in the near future.

She said, “Yeah, and I would say Met Gala is one of them. I think it’s during the clay season, so that’s probably the only other one. I’m like the only way that will work out. I will have to miss like an important part of the season, which right now, you know, early in my career, probably won’t happen. Maybe later on, but yeah, I would say Met Gala is the next one.”

She detailed her interest in attending the multi-million dollar New York event in the future. Not only that, but she also reasoned that she would not be able to attend the prestigious event for a long time, seeing the current WTA scheduled.

Additionally, she explained how she would have to leave a major tournament to attend the event. And shared her belief that it would be great if the prestigious event occurred after the US Open rather than in the middle of the clay season.

In the same interview, the 2022 French Open finalist expressed her desire to attend another event along with the Met Gala. She then lightheartedly discussed how skipping the Stuttgart Open will allow her to attend the music festival next year.

However, switching her attention back to tennis, she went on to describe her strategy for the Madrid Open following the current tournament in Germany. She added that she is unsure if she will be able to attend the music festival because she wants to avoid being injured and concentrate on her game.
