“An Eye-Opening Experience”: Emma Raducanu Opens Up on Hitting the Red Carpet at Met Gala After US Open 2021 Triumph

18-year-old Emma Raducanu created history at the US Open 2021 after becoming the first qualifier to ever win a Grand Slam. She crushed Leylah Fernandez in straight sets to clinch her maiden major. Interestingly, she didn’t drop a single set at the tournament.
After a brilliant US Open 2021 campaign, Emma Raducanu soon showed herself at Met Gala 2021 in New York. In a recent interview to WTA Insider, she spoke about her experience of attending the event for the very first time.

“I think that it’s really cool to be able to meet people and interact with people in different industries. At the Met Gala everyone is so experienced and so accomplished in their own way and it was really cool to hear how they are and their perspective on things. It was quite an eye-opening experience,” said Raducanu.
Raducanu felt really cool to meet a new bunch of people at Met Gala. She interacted with some of them and stated that it was an eye-opening experience for her.

Even though there were other renowned tennis stars including the likes of Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, and Maria Sharapova, Raducanu didn’t feel intimidated by anyone. She emphasized that she is trying to adjust herself into many new things. Overall, she expressed that she really had fun at the event.
“I think that I don’t find anything too intimidating, I think? It’s just quite a nice thing to do because I’m learning so much about myself and what’s happening in the whole process of trying to adjust to things I probably wouldn’t have done before. But I’ve had fun doing the things I’ve done so far,” added the US Open 2021 champion.
