21-year-old Canadian tennis star Bianca Andreescu hasn’t played a single match since October last year. Before that, she almost missed a year due to injury. However, this time she has taken an indefinite break from tennis due to mental health issues. In the meantime, she has been enjoying her time off the tennis court.
In a recent interview, the Canadian star talked about her famous US Open victory in 2019 and how predicted it way before it happened. Also, Andreescu revealed about her childhood heroes growing up.

2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu recently talked about her female inspirations growing up. She revealed that her mom was her main inspiration from childhood, and she taught her everything. Andreescu also revealed an interesting story about her 2019 US Open victory.
“My mom, because I mean, she’s taught me basically everything that I know. Funny story. She told me to write myself a check for the US Open and to just visualize that every single night. And I actually wrote the date of 2019 on it. And so for it to actually become a reality was insane,” Andreescu revealed.

Apart from her mom, the Canadian player also mentioned Billie Jean King and Kim Clijsters’ names as her female inspirations. She talked about having special respect for Billie Jean King for all the things she has done for women’s tennis. “Billie Jean King, because she’s been talking about equality in women’s sports all of her life and she’s created an incredible platform for herself. And I aspire to be like that,” Bianca stated.

“And Kim Clijsters. Because I grew up watching her play, I modeled a little bit of my game style towards hers and just her mental toughness and physical toughness on the court is super impressive,” Bianca further stated.
Can Andreescu make a strong comeback in 2022?

In 2019, Andreescu won the Indian Wells by beating Angelique Kerber in the final. Last year, she lost in the third round to Anett Kontaveit. Unfortunately, we won’t see the young Canadian in the main draw, as the tournament is about to start.
She has already missed the end of last season and the start of the 2022 season. It’s still unclear when she will return on the tour. However, she could potentially come back during the clay-court season and possibly play at the French Open.
