Winning the WTA Finals last month in Riyadh was just the beginning for Coco Gauff. The 2023 US Open winner knows it and she’s wasting no time during her tennis break after enjoying Thanksgiving with her family at her new home. But just like any other person, even Coco feels like giving up sometimes amid her hectic training. Lately, she’s been sharing moments from her workout struggles online. One such moment, however, has made a former WTA pro and Serena Williams’ ex-coach laugh out loud!

Coco shared a post on her X account on Saturday. It had a picture of a parked car, just inches away from the wall. Comparing the car’s position with her ongoing training struggles, Gauff wrote, how close I am to quitting in the middle of every workout so far this preseason, but quitting ain’t cute, so we finish.”

Gauff wanted to imply that despite getting a feeling of not continuing anymore, she was still at it. And that she wanted to complete her workout goals no matter what. Interestingly, her post garnered an amusing reaction from former Australian player Rennae Stubbs. The latter couldn’t resist her laughter and replied with six extreme laughing emojis.

Maintaining peak physical condition is always vital for tennis players, but it will become even more critical in the upcoming year. Under new WTA regulations, players must participate in at least 20 significant events, including the four Grand Slams and 16 additional tournaments. Meanwhile, it appears that several tennis experts have already begun boosting up the World No. 3’s spirits ahead of next season.

Coco Gauff receives major backing from tennis analysts ahead of 2025

In an episode of the AO Show Weekly podcast, analysts Levi Huddleston and former New Zealand player Simon Rea discussed Coco’s journey in 2024 while giving their takes on what to expect going forward. Levi reflected on her encounters with World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka and how she made a lot of double faults against the Belarusain. “I would say that when they met at the US Open, you know Coco Gauff hit 19 double faults. So like, I think, Coco, now that she is making some improvement on that serve, perhaps it will be a different match if we see them play again,” he said.

Putting a lot of confidence in Coco Gauff‘s ability, Levi said that in the next year, she might actually give a tough fight to Sabalenka. “So there’s a lot of room for her to improve on that serve. I think she has, so I think it would be really exciting to see what that matchup looks like at the AO,” he added. Earlier this year, she did manage to reach the SF round of the Major. However, her hopes to advance in the finals got shattered after Sabalenka beat her 7-6, 6-4 in straight sets.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Coco Gauff's grit and humor propel her to dominate the tennis world in 2025?

Apart from the China Open title in October and WTA Finals trophy last month, Coco hasn’t had a great season. Still, she managed to end it on a winning note, which is really crucial going into the new year. She would like to keep this momentum going in the Australian Open in January.
