There are widespread rumors that Twitter users, particularly the ones with the verified ‘blue tick’ verification, may have to start paying for that feature. The tennis legend, though, feels differently about this.

During her professional tennis career, Martina Navratilova won 59 Grand Slam tournaments and was renowned for her battle with Chris Evert. The 18-time singles Grand Slam champion is one of those individuals who has altered the course of sports and has shattered numerous records on the tennis court.

Martina Navratilova on the ‘blue tick’ speculation

Elon Musk’s speculated move to charge verified Twitter users $8 per month to maintain the blue tick next to their names has drawn widespread criticism. Like the other tennis players, well-known player Martina Navratilova has a verified account. The 18-time Grand Slam champion addressed this issue and shared her perspective on the current discourse on social media. She replied to Elon Musk’s tweet explaining the reason behind the move.

She said that she was fine with or without a blue tick and didn’t care much about having a verified account. She wrote, “I didn’t ask for the blue check mark- it just showed up one day, so feel free to take it away. My peeps know it’s me.”
