Eugenie Bouchard is slowly recovering from a shoulder injury and can be back on the court very soon. The Canadian national recently joked during an interview on the Tennis Channel and hinted at a comeback. She has been out of action due to a tear in her right shoulder, and she underwent surgery for the same.

Eugenie last played at the Monterrey Open back in March. She hasn’t played on the court since losing in the first round in Monterrey against Lin Zhu.

In a recent interview on a show with the Tennis Channel, Eugenie Bouchard sounded hopeful of a comeback on court. In 2017, tennis star Sloane Stephens worked at the Tennis Channel before going on to become the US Open champion. However, Bouchard prefers tennis over working in a corporate system.

Yeah, they see what a real job is like and realize that tennis is so much better. Of course, I know that Sloane (Stephens) had that tough year and had such a great jump right away when she came back. Fingers crossed that I can do the same,” said Bouchard.

The Canadian national could not qualify for the main draw of the Australian Open back in February. She played a couple of tournaments after that, before reaching the final at the Guadalajara Open in Mexico.

In the final, she lost to Sara Sorribes Tormo of Spain and that’s where the pain in the shoulder originated. After a couple of days, she went to Monterrey for the Monterrey Open. However, she lost in the first round against Lin Zhu, 5-7, 6-7. Since her loss in Monterrey, she did not come back to court and underwent shoulder surgery.

Eugenie Bouchard wants to make a strong comeback as Sloane Stephens did in 2017. In order to make a strong statement, she will have to win big prizes. The 2014 Wimbledon Championships finalist has slipped down in her rankings. However, she will hopefully come back stronger in her next tournament.
