The NFL Super Bowl LVI was a grand spectacle of an event. Fans from around the world tuned in as the Los Angeles Rams brilliantly beat the Cincinnati Bengals, after surrendering an early advantage. One such fan was tennis legend, Maria Sharapova. 

Sharapova took to her Instagram to post a story with her fiance Alexander Gilkes. In the video, Sharapova questioned Gilkes as the pair discussed the NFL.

The Super Bowl made headlines for a number of reasons. Beyond the action on the pitch, the show with Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and others was the highlight of the event.

While watching the event, Sharapova was accompanied by her fiance, Alexander Gilkes. The two were seen in a relaxing setup as they discussed the NFL. 

Sharapova asked Gilkes what does he know about the NFL. Replying to that, the British businessman accepted that he doesn’t know much about the sport apart from the 40-yard dash.

He said, “I don’t know much about it. But I know there’s a 40-yard situation.” While he was explaining himself, Sharapova looked into the camera and said, “He doesn’t know anything.”

The candid conversation didn’t seem to end here as the former World No. 1 further went to question Alexander “What is 40-yard?”

Not at all confident in his answer, Alexander said, “40-yards is for the first touchdown or something.” The 5-time Grand Slam champion made a hilariously shocked face listening to the answer. 

Maria Sharapova and Alexander Gilkes 

Alexander Gilkes is a 42-year-old British Businessman and auctioneer. He was previously the co-founder of Paddle8 and is currently the co-founder of Squared Circles. 

Maria Sharapova, on the other hand, was one of the top tennis players before announcing her retirement in 2020. Gilkes and Sharapova started dating in 2018. The two got engaged in December 2020.
