Former Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova was always the most-watched player on the Tour. The manner in which she carried herself on the court and off is one of a kind.
However, Sharapova retired from the game post the Australian Open 2020. Although, she does keep herself associated with her fans by regularly posting things on social media.

Maria Sharapova has been disturbed by world affairs
Recently, the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia has caught the attention of the former tennis star. She is saddened by seeing all the violence and has pledged to donate towards the ‘Save the Children’s crisis relief fund.’
Speaking on this issue, Maria stated, “With each day that goes by, I am more and more heartbroken and deeply saddened by the images and stories of families and children affected by this escalating crisis in Ukraine. I am donating to Save the Children’s crisis relief fund, an organization working tirelessly to provide food, water, and aid kits to support those in need.”

Coming to tennis, Sharapova had quite a decorated career. As a professional, she won five Grand Slam titles. She won a Major at each of the four Grand Slams events. However, the French Open is the only Major she won twice in her career.

Sweet memories as a teenager
The Russian reached an elite level of status when she won her first Grand Slam event at the Wimbledon Championships. She was a young teenager then and defeated the then World No. 1 Serena Williams on the Center Court at the All England Club.

Maria was spotted along with her fiance at the final of the US Open last year. Although the superstar retired from the game, she focuses on her business commitment. She owns the company Sugarpova which specializes in the sale and production of candy.
