HISTORY! Iga Swiatek Becomes the First Player From 21st Century to Mark This Incredible Record

Iga Swiatek lifted her maiden Grand Slam trophy at French Open 2020. Since then, she has been notably recording strong performances on the WTA Tour. Just recently, she qualified for the WTA Finals taking place in November 2021. Following her qualification, she became the first player born in the 21st century to compete at the mega event of WTA Finals in Mexico.

Swiatek has won one WTA 500 title and WTA 1o00 title this year. Apart from that, she has also registered victories against top female players on the tour. Surely, she looks determined to achieve her goals in 2021.

Iga Swiatek creates history

Iga Swiatek came into the spotlight after her heroics at French Open 2020. At the age of just 19, Swiatek lifted her first Grand Slam of her career, beating Sofia Kenin in the finals. By doing so, she became the first Polish player to captivate a Grand Slam singles title ever.

It seems like she has continued her dazzling performance in the 2021 season as well. Having grabbed two titles at Adelaide and Italy already, she has made a strong statement about her mettle. Subsequently, she has now also qualified for the WTA Finals, scheduled in November in Mexico.

Notably, she has become the first player born in the 21st century to participate in WTA Finals. Swiatek was born on 31st May 2001 in Warsaw, Poland.

Swiatek’s achievements in 2021

At the start of the season, Iga Swiatek captured her first WTA 500 titles at Adelaide International. This was her first WTA title win without dropping a single set throughout the competition. As a result, she entered the top 15 in 2021.

After that, she showed her class at the Italian Open. She ferociously beat Karolina Pliskova in the finals with a noteworthy score of 6-0, 6-0. It just took 46 minutes for the former French Open champion to register her first WTA 1000 title.

Now it’s time for Swiatek to display her talent in her debut performance at WTA Finals 2021. The mega-event will be taking place in Guadalajara, Mexico from November 10 to 17.
