In a similar vein, Anett Kontaveit once experienced the same feeling of standing against the 23-time Grand Slam champion on the tennis court last year at the US Open.

Last year, the Estonian tennis player got an amazing opportunity to face the 41-year-old tennis legend on the court. While playing against Williams is something that every player wants to do right, for some tennis fans, Williams’ victory was a memorable moment. But for the 27-year-old tennis player, her experience was extremely different. And most recently, the second installment of the Netflix tennis documentary BreakPoint gave tennis fans some insight into what Serena Williams’ final matches looked like.
Well, in that, her second-round opponent, the former World No. 2 discussed how she felt after losing to the tennis great in that conversation, lamenting how things didn’t go her way. After walking off the court after losing the match, she got emotional. And shared the pain of becoming Villian during Williams’ last dance. She said, “The whole match was emotionally one of the hardest things, that I’ve gone through on court. It’s not about me losing to Serena. It was just super overwhelming, like… I never want to do this again.”

The second part of Break Point revolves around the last year’s US Open and other tournaments of the second half of the 2022 tennis season. In that series, Williams’ victory is also displayed in a very beautiful manner. But at the same time, it also revealed the Estonian tennis player’s emotional rollercoaster.

She shared a series of pictures, explaining how things changed from having a comfortable coffee with her mother to the next day, she went on to play tennis against the former world number one, in front of the Spider-Man actress, Zendaya. However, the Estonian doesn’t have any regrets about not being able to claim a victory against Williams.
