American tennis legend, Chris Evert, was among the sanest heads on the court. She used to read the situation carefully and kept her calm in high-pressure situations. While her focus gave her a lot of success in her tennis career, the 67-year-old, believes she doesn’t have a similar calm in her personal life.

In a recent podcast, Evert revealed how her personal life is completely different from her on court life.

Evert speaks about differences in her mental strength on and off the court

Ever started by talking about her game awareness and her ability to absorb pressure. However, she said it happened only on the tennis court. “I realized at a young age that my temperament by being calm and cool on the court, by being present in every single point, and trying to win every single point, and having, you know, just a good mental beat being strong mentally, I felt that that was my strength in my game. But trust me, in my personal life, I’m a, you know, I’m a wreck,” she said.

Evert further added, “You raise kids, and you go, what the heck, you know, what, what do I do now, you know, my hands are up in the air all the time. So I think that was the only place that I could control myself.” 

Chris Evert encourages Frances Tiafoe after a disappointing US Open loss

American tennis star, Frances Tiafoe, was at the best of his form in this year’s US Open. The 24-year-old defeated tournament favorite, Rafael Nadal, en route to his semifinal run. However, the American could not go past a spirited, Carlos Alcaraz. The 19-year-old had a tough five-set match with Tiafoe, and sealed the victory to advance to the final. After missing out on the final spot with the barest of margin, Tiafoe said he let everyone down.

Later, Evert came up with words of encouragement for the American. The 67-year-old took to her Twitter account and wrote that he made her proud.

Further, she assured Tiafoe will win the US Open someday. The warm words from the legend herself will definitely encourage the American to do well in the future.
