Due to travel restrictions concerning COVID-19, Australian World No.1 Ashleigh Barty cannot travel back to her country. Hence, she has been out on the road since the Australian Open that transpired in February. Despite that, she performs at the highest level and recently collected her fifth WTA title of the year at the Cincinnati Open 2021. So naturally, experts and fans both want to know her secret of endurance.
Talking to the WTA Insider, Barty mentioned how fans have been boosting her in Cincinnati. For this, she also shared an incident with a young boy during her first day of practice.

Ashleigh Barty shares how young fans lift her up
First of all, Barty promised that she is “exhausted” but at the same time “extremely grateful and appreciative” of being on the WTA Tour. Then, she added how young kids and their smiling faces boosted her in practice.
“There was one kid on the very first day we practiced, he was sitting behind the court, and he turns to his dad and says, ‘Oh, I love watching Ash play, it’s amazing how she hits a ball.’ And I was like, ‘oh, that’s pretty cool.’

“‘That’s cool to hear from a young kid who’s come to a tournament, who loves tennis, who has probably been craving this tournament for two years.’ And to be here and provide me with that energy was just awesome,” Barty explained.
Furthermore, the reigning Wimbledon champion shared that doing what she loves is all that matters. Plus, with young kids looking on, everything becomes more fun.
“Go out there and have fun. Remember that there are kids here that are having fun with you. That’s something that really does lift me up,” Barty concluded.
What’s next for Barty in 2021?

Following the Cincinnati Open, 25-year-old Barty will go to New York to compete at the US Open 2021. She missed the tournament last year, so she will look forward to making up for it this year.
So far, Barty has never reached the quarterfinals in Flushing Meadows. However, this year, she would indeed be the most favorite to win based on performances.
