Japanese World No.2 Naomi Osaka is starting to become a popular global icon beyond the world of sports. Recently, she received a fanciful opportunity to extend her resume in fashion.

All of that led Osaka to the Met Gala 2021, an annual fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. She will co-chair the star-studded night in September this year.

The reigning US Open and Australian Open champion Naomi Osaka is one of the four Gen Z co-chairs. Osaka will have actor Timothée Chalamet, singer-songwriter Billie Eilish, and poet Amanda Gorman in her company.
Notably, apart from Osaka, the rest of the three co-chairs are American. However, the Japanese-born has lived most of her life in the United States since she was three years old. Thus, it makes her one of them.
Moreover, the four-time Grand Slam champion is also the global brand ambassador of one of the most luxurious brands, Louis Vuitton. She even has an exclusive apparel line with athletic sportswear giant Nike.

Before Osaka, Williams co-chaired the 2019 Met Gala
In 2019, the 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams had co-chaired the event. Accordingly, the tennis champion had added glory to the show with her affluent costume.
Following the footsteps of her idol, Osaka will also look forward to the night as Williams had. Despite their ongoing rivalry on a tennis court, they both are hand in hand uplifting the American culture.
