The Madrid Open competition was brimming with fresh talent and action-packed games. However, something unexpected happened as the competition drew near its end, setting off the WTA’s fury and despair. Following the finals, the women’s doubles finalist was not even given the opportunity to express themselves during the award ceremony. However, following the surprising disclosure, Serena Williams’ old coach, Rennae Stubbs, has identified a further missed chance for the women’s double finalist.

Yesterday, the 19-year-old American tennis player, Coco Gauff, expressed her concern over how she, being the women’s double finalist, was not given an opportunity to speak up during the trophy ceremony. Looking into that issue, a lot of tennis players rallied over the tournament’s discrimination and pointed fingers about having equal opportunities.

The 52-year-old Australian coach recently took to her Twitter account to raise a question to the tournament organisers. After looking at a picture of the men’s Doubles finalist that was clicked after the trophy ceremony. The former world number one was not happy seeing that photo. And raised concern about why the women’s doubles players were so ignored during the trophy ceremony. 

The president of the Madrid Tennis Federation recently shared a picture with the men’s doubles finalist. Seeing that the 23-time Grand Slam champions coach outburst her anger in the comment section. She commented, “How can you blatantly ignore the women’s doubles final in so many ways? No photo, no speech?”

The 19-year-old took to Twitter to describe a disappointing happening that occurred during the trophy ceremony. She broke the unexpected news and joked briefly about Pegula, her double partner, for being such a great tennis partner.
