World No.1 Ashleigh Barty got off to a fantastic start at the Australian Open 2021. In the first round, she steamrolled Danka Kovinic, thrashing her in both the sets.
The Australian player played some really attacking tennis and dominated the entire game. The final scoreline of the match read 6-0, 6-0.
In the post-match press conference, Ashleigh Barty faced quite a tricky question. She was asked if she watched and followed the matches of top tennis players like Naomi Osaka and Serena Williams while she herself was playing at a Grand Slam.

In response to this, the World No.1 player came up with a pretty good answer. “Sometimes, in the background, but typically not a lot,” began Barty.
“Nothing that I can do from the couch, it’s going to change how they play. I have zero control of how they hit the tennis ball.”
Although Barty admitted that she observed a few stars on the pitch, she clarified that her actions could not have impacted their on-court exploits.

Barty highlighted that she is the kind of player who just loves to watch the matches of other players. Even though she accepted that watching a little bit was fine, she later reflected that it was not really her thing.
“Yeah! you can watch a little bit. But, that’s not really my thing,” added the World No.1 player. Ashleigh Barty is certainly in the form of her life and doesn’t need to watch and study other players.
